Best way to get from Zurich to Bellagio?
 

We may be able to add a wk to our Italy trip and are considering flying into Zurich and training down to Lake Como area which I read somewhere is just beautiful scenery. I have found the Cisalpino rail so far. Is this it? Is this trip worth it? Any suggestions, thank you! (We would be there the last week of June).

The train trip from Zurich is very pretty, it takes about 3 hours and goes through and over the mountains (avoid local trains which take about 6 hours). Your hotel may be able to arrange to collect you at the train station. The best website to check for train times and purchasing tickets is the Swiss Railways website at SBB.ch. The site is in several languages, including English. I would not think you would need to purchase tickets ahead of time even for travel in June, but you can probably buy them on-line or on the phone.

I have travelled from Zurich to Bellagio several times. <BR><BR>Zurich - Como by train, then ferry to Bellagio. <BR>Check the train travel times on www.sbb.ch. The Cisalpino is the fastest train, and costs a bit more (not much). <BR><BR>Local train in June I would recommend a reserved seat. This will take about 3:45.<BR><BR>From the Como train station you can walk about 15 minutes to get to the lakefront (or you can easily take a taxi). This is where all the ferries are. <BR>The ferry from Como to Bellagio takes under 1 hour. there is a local and an express ferry. This is also a beautiful trip. I have never found reservations to be necessary.

You can take a bus from the train station (Como San Giovanni) to Bellagio (75 minutes).
