Best way to get from the Madrid Airport to the Ave train station
 

I am going to Spain, landing in Madrid and going directly to Seville via the Ave Train. What is the best way to get there? Does the Metro take you without exchanges or would it be best to take a taxi? How long does it take to get from Point A to Point B?

Take a cab -- it's fairly cheap and easier than the metro.

You would be better off flying to Madrid. The price difference is not that much, and I think there are frequent flights.

If you still want to take the train, buy your tickets ahead of time. Otherwise you will have to wait on line at the train station, and the lines there can be very long.

Correction: I meant "flying to Seville".

I think the simplest is cab. Allow about 45 minutes. I haven't done it since the metro is at the airport. I used to take the bus to Plaza Colon for about $3 and cross the plaza and catch the metro to Atocha. Took about 1 hour and a lot of carrying of bags. You may have the same change problem with metro but don't know.

BTW: Madrid has two train stations. The AVE leaves from Atocha station.

We took a cab too, very convienant and wasn't very expensive. Derinately buy your tickets ahead of time, we did, and even arrived for the earlier thrain than the one we were scheduled for and tried to exchange but all were booked full. Also if you book ahead don't think you are going to be charged twice for the train ticket. You must show your credit card that you used to buy the ticket online when you go to the desk with your email confirmation. It's a little confusing because I spoke virtually no spanish and most of the train tellers spoke no english, but it was worked out fine. Have a nice trip.
