Best way to get from Paris to Interlaken??

My parents and I are going back to Europe next June and will be leaving Paris for the Berner Oberland. We will be spending 3 days there but will be spending our nights in Interlaken. What is the best and quickest way to get from Paris to Interlaken? Thanks!

Hmmm, "best"? If you mean fastest, then train is going to be quickest for you. The quickest route is on the TGV Paris Gare l'Est to Basel, then change to the ICE or IC (whichever is going first) to Interlaken Ost. The journey will take around 5.5hrs with just one change.

Driving will take around 8hrs, with breaks.

Pezlord:

TGV train from Paris to Basel, then Swiss IC train to Interlaken is the best way.

In december 2011 SNCF will introduce a new connection from Paris Gare de Lyon via Dijon to Basel, which will replace the present TGV connection from Gare de l'Est via Strasbourg. This will reduce travel time between Paris and Basel by 30 Minutes.

There will be at least 5 direct TGVs from Paris to Basel. Connection time at Basel will be 6 to 11 minutes, total journey time between 5 and 5 1/2 hours.

Check for the exact times in the second half of December 2011, when the new line ist operative.

Buy your tickets online 3 months before intended travel date, you will be able to book at special price.

Hope this helps, enjoy your trip

Phil
