Best way to get from Orly to Gare do Nord?

I'll be getting into Orly at 10:30 PM. Can anyone tell me exactly how to get to Gare do Nord. Is it easy to take the RER or should I just take a taxi?

Take the OrlyVal peoplemover from Orly terminals to Antony station nearby, on RER B line which has frequent trains to Gare du Nord. Time RER stops? just after midnight perhaps but not sure. www.ratp.fr for schedules and times of service.

The Orlyval is a driverless shuttle train. The last train leaves Orly Sud for Antony at 23:00. The last RER B train leaves Antony at 00:09. The cost for the Orlyval plus the RER to Care du Nord is E9.10.

If you miss the last Orlyval (or just want to save a little money), you can take the Orlybus to Denfert Rochereau and the RER B from there to Gare du Nord. The last Orlybus leaves Orly Sud at 23:30. The bus costs E6.00 and a ticket on the RER from Denfert Rochereau to Gare du Nord costs E1.40.

If your flight is really late, you can take the Noctilien (night) bus N120 directly from Orly to Gare du Nord.

OrlyVal costs 10 bucks for a 3-minute ride. If you want to save the fare, take the shuttle bus to Pont de Rungis, RER C to St-Michel Notre-Dame, then RER B to Gare to Nord. See map: http://www.ratp.info/picts/plans/gif...x/aeroport.gif

The last RER C train leaves Pont de Rungis at 23:27. A ticket from Pont de Rungis to Gare du Nord costs E5.75.

The Pont de Rungis station seemed rather seedy - nothing around it, just a shelter that was incredibly graffiti covered last time i were there. Probably safe but a the crowd waiting for the RER C train seemed rather disconerting to me. Maybe i got a wrong impression.

It's indeed a very depressing station....

I were thinking it may be a bit threatening late at night for someone with bags, etc. especially since the district around it is rather dicey i believe - one of Paris' poor immigrant suburbs and nothing against immigrants but...

Pont de Rungis is no "seedier" than a hundred other train stations in and around Paris. It's a place where you get on a train (which come by every few minutes), not where you're going to sleep.

Geez.

Er, no, you're wrong on this one. The district around Pont de Rungis is a grim mix of freightyards, Orly facilities, and vague areas. No big concentration of population - immigrant or not.

As to your linking of "dicey" with "immigrants" (the latter word being of very little accuracy in this case) ... Well, no, let's not start a political flame war.

There are also a number of 2- and 3-star hotels around, including a Novotel. The main activity in Pont de Rungis is the sprawling wholesale vegetable and meat market, successor to the legendary Les Halles, which has been transformed into a theme park.

The Pont de Rungis station is basically in the middle of the airport industrial zone. It is not a residential area at all, so anybody waiting for the train either comes from the airport or one of the related industries -- freight handlers, aircraft maintenance, etc.

The stop for workers at the national wholesale food market is Rungis La Fraternelle.
