Best way to get from Montecatini Terme to Florence

I and my friends are staying in Montecatini Terme in Sept. and are taking a bike tour of Tuscany, out of Florence. RailEurope has round trip tickets for $144 each. Is there a better way to get to Florence and back in one day?

I would take TrenItalia - trenitalia.com. The cost should be much less expensive than $144 R/T. In fact should be like 10 euros each way. I think they are about an hour apart.

Check website for exact times you want to travel.

What? Montecantini Terme is a couple of train stops from Firenze. I'd be surprised if it's a 20 minute ride.

Use the Trenitalia website to check the Italian train schedule, and remember that Italians call "Florence" Firenze.

Sorry for the typo: It is Montecatini

By all means take the train!!! Buy the tickets at a tobacco shop near the train station in Montecatini. The cost is dirt cheap -- maybe 10E. The machines in the train station are all in Italian, they often don't work, and the ticket window was not manned when we were there recently. The ride takes about half an hour and takes you directly into the main central station, only a couple blocks from the Duomo.
