Best way to get from Granada to Costa Del Sol
Hello,
My wife and I are travelling to Spain in Oct. We're going to Barcelona first and then to Granada. From Granada, we want to go to Gibraltar but we would prefer to go to Costa Del Sol and take a day trip to the Rock. (is that possible?) What is the best way to get to Costa Del Sol from Granada? Also, from Costa Del Sol, can we take a Day trip to Cordoba or is it best to do that from Seville (which is our next stop on the trip). |
What city do you plan to stay in Costa Del Sol? This is a region that includes many different cities.
Check out some guidebookds to get an idea of where various places are located. Also various websites such as aboutspain.net, spainlist.com, red2000.com, okspain.org. You could easily do a day trip to Gibraltar, although there may be better places to explore. We've rented cars, so I don't know about public transporation, but the roads are good. If you plan to go to Alhambra, I suggest you get tickets in advance on the Internet. |
Definitely day trip to Cordoba out of Sevilla.
Here's a couple links to get you started on Sevilla: www.maribelsguides.com -- print out the city guide to Sevilla www.sevilla5.com www.exploreseville.com Check some of the other recent posts on Andalucia trips for other ideas. Have a great trip! |
I took the train from Granada to Sevilla, and it was a comfortable 2 hour ride. Needed to purchase train tickets in advance in Granada a day before the trip (any travel agent will be able to issue them, and there are several near the main tourist office in central Granada.) The route is direct with only a couple of short stops near Sevilla, and the final destination at the the central train station there. Its best to take a cab to the train station in Granada since the busses stop several blocks away and you'll probably have luggage.

Thanks everyone!!
We're definitely going to Cordoba from Sevilla. I don't think Costa Del Sol is going to work out with our schedule. From Granada, we're going to Algeciras, spending the night and then going to the ROCK. We might pop into Morocco if we have time. From there it's Sevilla and then Madrid. Should be fun!!! |
