Best way to get from Cluses to Nice

Hi everyone--just leaving on our trip in 4 days and wanted to find out some last minute info. We are having trouble finding the best way (and quickest)to get down to the south of France from Cluses. Anyone have suggestions? thank you in advance

Sarah,<BR><BR>Are you driving or taking public transportation?<BR><BR>For public transportation your best bet is to take a cab to Geneva airport in less than an hour (should be about 70-80 Euros), then fly to Nice on EasyJet.<BR>www.easyjet.com<BR><BR>You could take a train via Lyon, but it would be a much longer journey (over 8 hours) and perhaps more expensive - although Easyjet won't be too cheap at such short notice... Check the train schedules at:<BR>http://www.rail.ch/pv/index_e.htm<BR>& reserve the trains where this is possible (see the explanations on the timetable) at:<BR>www.sncf.com<BR><BR>If you rent a car, it's probably fastest to take the Mont-Blanc tunnel to Courmayeur, then drive to the Med through Italy. Driving would be my prefered option if you're spending some time exploring the Cote d'Azur, where a car comes in very handy. Check <BR>www.viamichelin.com<BR>for route planning.<BR><BR>I know it's none of my business, but why in the world are you going to Cluses???<BR><BR>Anyway, bon voyage!<BR>Andre

I fear it is too late for you to reach the right reference library to find the Thomas Cook European Timetable. Tables 367, 350 and 360 show your trains. Cluses 0601, Lyon Part-Dieu 0859 to 1141, buffet car train, Nice 1602. Or Cluses 1158, Lyon Part Dieu 1515 to 1531, buffet car train, Nice 2006.<BR><BR>Ben Haines

Thank you Andre and Ben for your very helpful tips. We have Eurorail passes so we will be taking the train. It might just be too much though as we only have a few days down in the south. Andre-we are going to Cluses for two days to catch up with the Tour De France. I know very little about the place. I am hoping it is a very nice spot-if not we shall move on! Any info would be great (tell me even if it is not that exciting). Thanks again.

There are notes on Cluses, in English, on http://www.cluses.com/english/english.html. I used Google for Cluses Haute Savoie Travel. They have a museum of watches asnd clocks.<BR><BR>Ben Haines
