What is the best way to get from the airport in Thessaloniki, Greece to a city hotel?

Hi Thin,

Dpending on the hotel, some will send a driver to meet you. My mom stayed at the Hotel Nikopolis Thessaloniki a couple years ago and they had a driver waiting for her holding a sign with her name.

I am staying at the Makedonia Palace. Somehow, sweetie darling, I don't think they are going to send a car for us.

Should we take a cab or is there a subway or colorful bus? Muffy will want to take the bus so she can chat people up about where the best bars and liquor stores are in Thessaloniki.

Yes, there is a colourful airport bus where Muffy can chat people up. Unfortunately I've forgotten the number: might be 39. It takes you right along Egnatia, the main drag (if you'll pardon the expression.)

The Makedonia most certainly will send a car if you ask them. And they won't charge you much more than it'd cost you to hire a Rolls for a day

Alternatively the No 78 bus (for which you need a variety of coins to buy tickets from the machine outside the airport terminal) stops about 50 yds from the hotel. The hotel's between the city centre and the airport.
