Best way from Seville to Madrid?
I am in the planning stages for a trip in Feb. and I am thinking about Seville and Madrid (8 days/7 nights - splitting time between both). One possiblity is to fly into Seville and then travel onto Madrid. Should we (2 adults & 1 teenager) fly (any discount airlines), train, or rent a car (how long)? What are differences with time & cost in mind? Thanks for your help.

Simple answer. Take the AVE train. Cannot remember the cost off hand but it is the quickest way and costs are moderate.

I recommend the AVE route as well.
I would want to know more before endorsing spending an equal amount of time in Seville and Madrid. IMO the former can easily be seen in a couple of days. |
Split the journey, spend 4 hours in Cordoba, visit the Mezquita and Alcazar, very easily achievable. There used too be some decent sized luggage lockers at the Cordoba station.

MotorCoach is cheapest. I traveled Madrid-Cadiz on Socibus/Secorbus for about 35 Euro. AVE Madrid-Sevilla or Sevilla-Madrid will cost about 60 Euro (Turista) pp.
At times Iberia offers discounted fares that are cheaper than AVE. Vueling is a Spain discount airline but I don't think it flys a Madrid-Sevilla route. Carnaval is celebrated in Cadiz around 18-20 feb. It's probably celebrated in other places around Spain but Cadiz is said to have mainland Spain's best 'Fat Tuesday' celebration. |
Look at www.aireuropa.com as they sometimes have good deals

Thank you for all your help everyone.

check out iberia for cheap airfare - we flew from barca to madrid for 29e each and the flight was a lot faster than the train

Train AVE is 65 aprox euro per person one way in tourist class. First class is frankly not worth it.
