Best way between these destinations.

Please list the best way to get between these destinations besides a car...We have researched a rental car but want to know about other options ie bus, train, etc...

We are going for a month in October 2008 as my husband had knee replacement and he will be at his best by then. Because we had to wait, he is letting me add a week to our previous plans so now we have 4 weeks instead of 3.

Charles De Gaulle Strasbourg

Strasbourg to Chamonix Or is Grenoble easier to get to?

Chamonix to Loire Valley to see Chenonceau and Chambord and which place to base ourselves for these.

Loire to Mt. St. Michel

Mt St Michel to Honfleur or St. Malo

the to D-day beaches Canadian Sites (Is there a good tour group for the Canadian sites?)

Beaches to Paris.

I know I am asking a lot, I know that I can't ask for one person to answer all of this but if you have a god options for one leg, please let me know...

You would get a lot more responses if your title were more inclusive. No one knows from the title which country or cities you are talking about. Suggest you repost.

Buses as a means of long distance travel within France don't exist therefore you can scratch that option.

Given that you want to cover most of France then a leasing scheme like www.renault-eurodrive.com or www.peugeot.com/services/openeurope/en/

As you have lots of time to plan, suggest you familiarize yourself with bahn.de (English version is available under 'Internat.Guests'. This will give you rail schedules for France, notwithstanding it is the German rail site.

I also suggest you take a look at travel guides like Rick Steves' France, which should help you with public transit suggestions between many of these destinations.

Above all, get a good map of France.

Bon voyage.

Hi PB,

By the time you get there, the TGV EST from Paris Est to Strasbourg will be in operation. It will be much faster than a car, - 2:20 hr.

You might save money on car rental with a lease/buy back plan.

Have you looked at train schedules and prices at www.voyages-sncf.com?

You might be doing enough training for a railpass to be useful. Enter your itinerary at www.railsvaer.com and click "only if it saves money".

Enjoy your visit.
