Best View in Ireland
Family of 4 to Ireland next summer for first time. What is your favorite spot, restaurant, hotel, etc. with an awesome view. I originally posted this under the wrong topic.

There are so many:
the view from the top of Croagh Patrick,
the view from the Slieve League Cliffs in Donegal,
the view from St. John's Point in Donegal,
north to Donegal from the cliffs at Co. Mayo.
Those were our favorites.

There are many magnificent views leading to and on Achill Island. As for views from a restaurant, the view from the window in the backroom of O'Dowds in Roundstone is great. And the views from both the guest lounge and the breakfast room at Adarehouse B&B in Westport were wonderful.
Let's face it, Ireland is full of magnificent views!

Our 2 weeks in Ireland were just one awesome view after another! Special favorites of mine were the view from Connor's Pass (drove from Bunratty to Dingle via Connor's Pass.) Magnificent view, just how you imagine Ireland!
I also loved the view of the sea from Dunluce Castle ruins in County Antrim, Northern Ireland, on a clear sunny day...sea was sparkling.

Rainbows in County Limerick!
The Old Glantan cemetery in west Limerick is on a slight hillside: I had just finished reading Tombstones looking for relatives and sat down at the top of the hill to rest. One cow grazing broke up the silence and beauty of the valley below. It was nice!
As I recall, there are many Ahearn's buried there although it's not a 'Family Plot.' The lady in the house just east of the cemetary is not the Registrar, although she was very kind to tell me where that person lives.
Dublin: The Molly Malone statue with her 'barrow' (bountifully endowed to say the least).
Also in Dublin: the views from the Liffey River bridge, especially in the direction of the Guinness Brewery.

The view from the top of Skellig Michael through the "window" in the stone wall to Small Skellig.
The view from many of the cottages in the Donegal Thatched cottages on Cruit Island.
Fanad Head
The lighthouse at the very tip of Sheepshead.
The view from the balcony room at "The Shores Country House".
Sitting in the corner table by the fire at O'Sullivan's in Crookhaven watching the fishing boats come in.
Approaching Clonmacnoise by boat from the River Shannon.
Looking over the fields of Co. Roscommon with my great-great grandmothers headstone in the foreground.
A 7 year old pouring two perfect pints of Guinness at Killeens in Shannonbridge (she's got to be 10 by now)

Castle Murray House B&B...St. John's Point, Donegal (fantastic decor with awesome views, great breakfast, plus a dinner worth the splurge...even the kids loved it!! plus you can view the bay, horses, castle ruins, great walks)...I have been suggesting this find to all of my friends as a must.
top of Healy Pass, Beara Peninsula great views of Cork and Kerry...lots of switchbacks, see if you can find the "magic spot" near the beginning...we really rolled up hill!
all of Slea Head Loop, Dingle...#1 scenic drive with lots of historic and scenic stops
Cliffs of Moher-must see
Doolough Valley (from Westport past Croagh Patrick to Delphi then to Clifden)...read up on the history for the full impact
Sky Road-WOW moment, even on a not so clear day.

From the second floor of the Kentucky Fried Chicken in Newcastle, Northern Ireland.
Seriously. Assuming that they've cleaned the massive picture window, it's just a fantastic view of the Slieve Donard rolling down to the sea.
Second favorite would be from the balcony of my old house in Killyleagh, N. Ireland. Again, I'm being serious. Friends used to think we were joking when we e-mailed pictures--then they would visit and be bowled over.

The water running down from the land into the bay, the waves coming in from the bay, the rocks that were so many different colors. It was amazing.
