Best trip duration in Amsterdam

What is the right amount of days to visit Amsterdam and the must see surrounding areas? Will be going on July 10, 11 & 12 leaving on the 13. I would like to stay longer, but the hotel is booked is full, and so will need to find, possibly, another hotel for the remainder of the time. We are staying at the Hotel Brouwer, and so wonder which hotels are nearby within the budget of 95 euros. Thanks for any suggestions.

Are you arriving from the US or elsewhere in Europe? If from the US then jetlag will eat into your first day. How many trips outside Amsterdam were you thinking of? Just the one to Volendam/Marken or also to say Den Haag, Delft, Gouda, Leiden or even Utrecht or the Kröller Muller museum?
If you want to visit any of those then you will need more time. Even with just the Volendam trip it will be tight to really see and enjoy Amsterdam properly without spending all your time in museums. One advantage is of course that the sun doesn't set until around 10pm so it will be light late for you to enjoy the evenings. You can always take an evening canal trip to give you more time during the day.

I can't help with hotels I'm afraid, but I am sure someone else will come up with some ideas if you do want to stay longer.

Well you could hit the "must see's" in that time frame - alot depends on your travel style. Where do you think you will go if you leave Amsterdam, or is that your entire trip? Mae's B & B is aropund 105E I think, but for the most part I think the hotels in A'dam are pricey.

Prices are dropping for hotels in Amsterdam - the crisis is hitting them as much as every one else. Have a look at one of the consolidator sites like Hotels.com and see what they have. Or do as was suggested earlier and move on out to Haarlem for your extra days, and visit Den Haag or wherever from there.

Hi; www.booking.com/ I like this site because they do not charge up front. Usually, you pay at the hotel. Put the city and dates in and check the Eden Hotel at 99euro. I would check trip advisor for reviews. iris1745/dick

Hi; Sorry, but the reviews on trip advisor were not good. Consider this apartment on a canal at 95euros for two. [plus 50euro cleaning fee]. www.vrbo.com/125532 iris1745/dick
