Best Train from CDG to Avignon

Am I correct in thinking that the best way to get a train to Avignon is the TGV from CDG?

Which web site... rail europe? or TGV? or?

Thanks

Yes, there are regular TGVs from CDG aérogare 2 to Avignon. Buy PREM tickets starting 3 months out from your travel date at www.voyages-sncf.fr.

Do NOT use Rail Europe unless you want to pay WAY more than you need to.

If you can use French language sites, try here:
http://www.voyages-sncf.com/

Enter Aeroport Paris - Roissy Charles-de-Gaulle (CDG 2) in the Departe line, Avignon TGV in the Arrive line, enter your dates of travel, number of passengers and click Reservez.

It'll pull up a schedule of times and prices for each run. Select your departure time, class (which will include the price for each leg) and click Validez Cet Aller. This will take you to the return leg of the trip (if it's a roundtrip) and do the same thing. Then you enter the name(s) and birthdates of the passengers. Click the continue button to finish. Enter your card information, etc. and send. You'll get a confirmation e-mail, which also allows you to print your actual tickets at home.

Take your tickets and matching passports to the train and have a great trip!

You might find it more convenient to take the RER from CDG to Gare de Lyon where you will have 10 times more trains to Avignon from which to choose.

RER???

kerouac is suggesting that you take the commuter train into Paris to catch a train from the Gare de Lyon to Avignon, because there are many more trains leaving from there than from CDG. But my experience has been that there's always a train or two or three right from CDG that fits well with the usual morning airport arrival times.

Time you looked up the basic research, Otto2. www.tgv-europe.com for the national trains in English (choose any country except US as your home base.) That's the source for high-speed 'trains a grande vitesse' (TGV), including the Avignon services from both Charles de Gaulle and Gare du Nord in central Paris.
www.ratp.fr operates the Paris area's pubic transit systems, including the regional RER trains that connect Charles de Gaulle and the city centre. www.Parisbytrain.com can simplify the travel mechanics.

Certainly no need, in my experience, to go into the city first. There are good TGV connections from CDG directly to Avignon. Then regular local buses from Avignon TGV station to the town.

As suggested above, use the Seat61 website to take you step by step through the ticket buying process on the SNCF website.
