We'll be heading from Venice to the Austrian Alps in May, staying 3 nights, and then heading to the Dolomites in Italy. Would love to hear of a quaint village somewhere near the Grossglockner road where we can stay. I heard that weather may be iffy, so want to make sure there's something to do, in case it doesn't look like a good day to drive the road. (keeping my fingers crossed that it won't happen)

The Grossglockner road may already be open, but I can't see any place where I would like to stay in May. In the greater area, you may check Lienz in Osttirol.
