Best Time to Visit Mykonos/Santorini
My husband and I won a trip to Mykonos and Santorini at a charity auction. What 's the best time of the year to visit? Is it too cold at the end of October? Thanks...

Too cold in October with fronts also lots of ferries
hotels start shutting down so May-Sept for me.

The best time is right now (late May). May is the least windy month, the temps are typically in the mid to upper 70's and most importantly the streets in Oia and Fira are literally wall to wall people in the summertime. The shoulder season is much much better.

If the trip has to be in 2011, Then the best time to visit Mykonos and Santorini would be in mid-September. This will give you a good combination of nice weather and less crowding, but with most ferries still operating their summer timetables. Wait until the end of October and you will probably have to go through Athens to get between Mykonos and Santorini.
If you are planning to travel in 2012, then you have more latitude. Late May is a good time to go, but I actually prefer early to mid June when the weather is more settled and the water has warmed to more comfortable swimming temperatures.
