Best time to see Ireland

My husband and I are trying to plan a trip to Ireland. Looking for advice as to when the best time to go is. We don't want to go when it is too cold, rainy, etc. Don't want to fight crowds too much. Thinking June?

Thanks for any advice.

Probably May or Sept. I had practically no rain when I was there this Oct, but I was told that was weird. (Some parts this past Sept had no rain for 90% of the time, which they said was very strange. It was front page news when I got there Oct 1.)

Whenever you choose to go, expect some rain! :)

We've gone the last week in May twice now. One year the sun was shining and it was in the 70's with one day of rain. The next year it was rainy and in the lower 60's most of the time. It's a crap shoot as far as the weather is concerned, but it was a great time because there weren't a lot of tourists.

mina has the months right. May has more flowers but also more tourists-avoid anything within a week of bank holiday weekend when the summer rush starts. but some rain is inevitable--how do you think it stays that green. The days are very long in May. Sept is also quiet at the end of the month but Ireland is so popular that that month is getting busy. By September the tourists have frazzled all the local tourist industry so your welcome will not be as glad as in the spring. Either tine is good to visit one of my favorite countries.

I'm not sure it really matters as long as your not playing golf. Lets face it, no one goes to Ireland to bask in the sun. I have been in February and it was about 50 and rainy, sometimes its not much warmer in may or june, just ask Mike.

MAY...MAY...MAY!!!!!

September is the best, followed by May. You get your best chance for good weather, and in September you'll have the fewest tourists, particularly from mid-Sept onwards.

There definitely are better times than others to visit Ireland. When the weather's clear, the sun's shining and it's not too cold, there's nowhere else on earth I'd rather be. However, when you wake up to one grey, dark, rainy morning after another, it starts to get to you. Of course, you can still get that in September or May! It is Ireland, after all.
may or early june. school hasn't let out so the summer crowd isn't there yet. fyi...no air conditioning in the hotels or b & b's over there so if it's warm like it was when i was there...it can get warm! have a pint and enjoy.

I have been to Ireland twice in early June. Wonderful weather both times and the rhodendron were in full bloom! Also there were not great crowds.

We went in June and encountered light rain every day. The week before we arrived it was sunny.... You will just have to take your chances. Bring the right weather gear and it won't make a difference. It will still be a beautiful, friendly place.

Middle of April.........we had nine straight days of sunshine and blue skies, though a little chilly sometimes.
Almost no tourists, so accommodations were easier to obtain (and sometimes less in price!)
