Best time to go to Prague??

I was in Prague in early December and loved it. Its quite a gothic city with tons of history. You often see pics of Prague in sunlight and blue skies. Trust me, the fall/winter is the best. The skies are cloudy and the river holds fog that looms over the charles bridge, AWESOME!! You feel as if your walking in your history book. Also this city is so inexpensive to visit from food, lodging and even concerts, its great. If you have any questions at all I would love to answer them about this place or other great stops through Europe.
we are planning to travel to Europe in the Fall. Can you tell me anything about river boat travel from Amsterdam...to maybe Frankfort or even to Berlin. How about from Dresdin to Prague? Also about train travel. Our iteneray: Brussels, Amsterdam, Munich/or Berlin.
Then Innsbruck, Salzburg, Vienna, Budapest, Prague. Will decide whether to end up in Berlin or Munich. Will have about 5 weeks. Thanks

Hi Christiane, Are you traveling as a family? I found the Orian Hotel to be a great hotel for amilies. All rooms are suites with full kitchens. They were about $70.00/night when I was there in Sept 99. It is located in the 'new' city which is an easy tram ride to the old city. The hotel is clean and the rooms are nice and it also includes breakfast.
Mike, we were there in November and the weather was great (just 1 night of rain), not so many tourists and off-season prices.
Judi, the train from Berlin to Dresden is about 2-hour ride and from Dresden to Prague is about 2 1/2 hours. Munich is nice and more stereotypic German but Berlin is a fascinating city with so much history and culture.
Christiane, try nethotels.com and www.avetravel.cz for places in Prague. We stayed at Penzion Balbin; near Muzeum Metro & Wenceslas Square; 5-10 minute walk to just about any where; clean, nice with shower & toilet in room, buffet breakfast; top floors of apartment building (yes, elevator) with locked door to street so safe. Just about every restaurant is more than affordable. Nethotels.com site also has events, I don't remember about restaurants. Check the Fodors restaurant information area.
