Best Time of Day to Tour Windsor Castle
We are staying two nights in Windsor (late June) to see the castle. To best avoid crowds, would it be a good idea to plan to visit the castle at around 13:00? I figure that most bus tours arrive early in the day and that by 13:00, most of those visitors would be finished with their tours. We would still have about 4 hours to tour the castle. Ideas?

I'd get there just before opening time. The security queue is short then. It just builds for the rest of the day and 1PM would be in the teeth of the gale so to speak. Plus the queue for the Dolls house gets quite long after opening.
Going in the late afternoon would be good queue-wise, but then you wouldn't have enough time to see everything.

I suggest you look on the castle website and see if there are any special tours offered for the day you'll be there. I booked a "kitchen" tour, small group and it included much more than the kitchen, none of which is open to the public otherwise. It was fascinating. Then you can tour the rest before and after the time you sepnd on the tour.
