Best time?

Is weather best in the west of Ireland in July or August? Is it really crowded at that time?

Thanks.

We have gone in late May or Mid-September. Weather in the 70's. Some days sunny, some rainy.

The general consensus on this board is that Yes, it is crowded in the West portion of Ireland in July and August. ((b))

OK, tks Budman. I looked on the underground weather and see that Sept is not a whole lot different weather wise but see that hotels, etc. are also cheaper.

We do not like to go with large crowds, etc. as we always go to Europe in May and Sept but I thought we'd go when weather is nicer in Ireland. Just got back from Bavaria and Dublin and it was cold everywhere.

I like September! The last time I was there playing golf at Carne Golf links in Belmullet, County Mayo, I dressed in layers and I had stripped off most of those layers by the time I got to the back nine. Temps were in the low 20's Celsius (mid 70's farenheit). It wasn't very crowded; but I understand July and August are.

We went the last two weeks of May last year and the weather was incredible. Only 1.5 days of light drizzle over a span of 14 days; the rest of the time primarily clear and sunny.

I believe Ireland receives less rain in May than in September and the temps are similar.
