Hi R,

We have never used more than a carnet of 10 tickets pp/week.

When you buy 10 tickets at once anyone can use them--one person/10 rides, 10 people/1 ride each, or any other combination. The best way to save money on transportation is to walk. If you are in a reasonably central location, you probably won't need to use the metro that much.

There is also the Batobus pass for one day (12E) and two days (14E). This is a boat that has eight stops along the Seine and works much like a bus. You can get on or off as you please. It is great for seeing the sights as well although there is no commentary like on a sightseeing cruise. Website is:

And then there is also a Museum Pass which can be purchased at most major sites or museums (i.e. Louvre, Arc d'Triomphe, Musee d'Orsay). A two day pass will cost you 30E. If you plan on visiting more than 3 or 4 places in the two days, you will break even. Even if you don't break even, (in my opinion) the advantage is you get to skip the long lines saving valuable time. Website and info can be found here:
