Best sunrise in Paris?
 

I am an EARLY bird. Sunrise is genuinely my favorite time of day. I would love to go take some photographs at sunrise in some cool places in Paris on an upcoming trip in early June. Any suggestions?

One scenic place would be the Place Trocodero, just across the river from the Eiffel Tower. The Place Trocodero faces the Southeast and gives a great view of the Champs du Mars and the city beyond. Sunrise in Paris in mid June is around 05:45, so I think you will have the place pretty much to yourself.

I'm not an early bird, but one day I had to be at a place near the Arch de Triumph very early and the taxi turned onto a completely deserted Champs Elysee just as the sun was rising. It was amazing. I always swore I would get back there one day to take photos. But like I said, I'm not an early bird.

For sunsets, more my speed, go to the bar on top of the Terrass Hotel in the 18eme. Pick the right day and you'll be treated to a glorious sunset followed by the twinkling Eiffel Tower on the hour.

Don't forget that the sun rises before 6 a.m. in June. The sky is pink (on a good day) by 5:30. There are some great viewpoints from the top of Belleville at that time of year. (In the dead of winter, Place de la Concorde is amazing -- I would come out of the metro to go to work, and it was breathtaking.). Basically in June, you need to be in the east, because the hills such as the Buttes Chaumont get in the way of the sun. The top of the Buttes Chaumont park would be a great place to go, but it doesn't open until 7 a.m.

Thanks for the suggestions. I am hoping to have the energy to do multiple mornings and just capture the city at rest that time of day so I will use all of these thoughts!

My wife and I spent a magical May morning walking down on the quays of the Seine near Notre Dame, west from Pont de la Tournelle to Pont Neuf. The early morning sun was behind us and shining on Notre Dame. It was just us and an occasional jogger. Perfection.
