Best Suited itinerary to UK
 

Dear Community Members
we will be travelling to UK with 2 kids (who are approaching teen) and searching for places to be included in the itinerary.

I have the following questions:
1) We have shortlisted LEGOLAND and THORPE PARK along with River Thames sight seeing in London (3 Days).
Which hotel you suggest to cover all three destinations?

2) We have also shortlisted Causeway Coast (Northern Ireland).
How can we plan to a day trip from any Location in UK to this part of Ireland?

3) Which other destination is must visit in UK?

2) Causeway is in U.K. So anyplace would be fine - whatever town closest.

Causeway coast; you want to fly into one of the Belfast airports from one of the London airports. I'd start with skyscanner.com but it depends on where you are staying. You need to use something like Plan your journey | Traveline to use public transport to get around. So London-City to Belfast international by flybe would be good https://www.flybe.com/web-app/index.html book early to get the cheap flights especially the early flight which you will need.

Legoland and Thorpe Park are relatively accessable from central London using the train/bus system

The Harry Potter theme park might be worth looking into

3) What are other musts? What are your interests? Three things you gave would not be 'musts' to many but are to you. How long do you have? Going by train or car? If visiting Northern Ireland maybe fly into Dublin and out of London or v.v. and take trains between stops if you have a lot of time - but much more info is needed to advise on your third question.

First of all your children are very likely too old for Legoland -- the target audience is the 3 to 7-ish year old, maybe a touch older..

If you mean 'mainland' England/Wales/Scotland -- It is NOT a day trip. You would have to be in Northern Ireland to do a day trip there.

I can think of hundreds of places I'd recommend over Legoland or Thorpe Park, but Thorpe Park is fun - assuming the weather is decent. Not a given by any means. Do you have any guide books?

How long is your trip in full? 3 days is nothing for London really and getting to Northern Ireland and back would be a 2 or 3 day excursion. London has enough to fill weeks for a family with tweens. But if your trip is long enough you could do 6 or 7 days in London and then visit some other part(s) of the country.

I agree with janisj, London is a mecca for kids. Plenty to keep everyone e busy for a week or more. I would also agree that Northern Ireland, in fact even Ireland, is not really a day trip. Certainly not an easy one. IMO it isn’t worth the hassle if just doing the Causeway. A few days spent there makes more sense.

A good Thames boat ride could go downstream to Greenwich - where kids may like the Cutty Sark boat tour and trekking up to the 'home of time' the Greenwich Observatory where they can step from western to eastern hemispheres - take trains back to London or the neat Docklands Railway - DLR - an elevated driverless (in theory) elevated train back to London proper.

The DLR may be exciting for kids - especially if you can nab a seat in the front car where the driver would normally sit and make like you're driving the train:
