best Starwood Hotel in Paris?
 

Looking for someplace as quiet as possible with good rooms and bathrooms. Hopefully within walking distance to good, non-exorbitant restaurants. Not interested in shopping. Most enjoy walking in interesting neighborhoods.

Poss its more helpful if you list the hotel choices, since its unlikely that many have stayed at all the Starwood hotels in Paris( I personally have no idea how many there are) so getting comparisions may be based on location. Many of us can help with locations , which areas are most convenient etc..

What on earth is a Starwood?
Aaartgh I've just seen the website, I'm assuming you have a financial need to stay in this sort of place, sorry looking at the list that I can just about pull down (goodness knows what idiot designed that website) The Prince of Wales might be ok if you don't mind the Russians and the filthy rich.

There are Starwoods and there are other Starwoods..Have only had one sort of bad experience in Ann Arbor..Hotel under renov., noisy, crowded, small rooms (2), full up so no other availability!! That said many others , No. Amer. and Europe, have been just fine.
Belongrng to SPG has always had beneficial results and I wouldn't hesitate to stay in any but Paris?? Unless you are using points or collecting points there are other charming places to stay for the same if not better price. Location would be the clincher for Starwood in Paris but only that.

Yes, we'd be using points for our stay. E.g. we stayed at the Westin in Venice several summers ago, and it was absolutely splendid in every way: loved everything about it. (And certainly had no feeling whatsoever that the place was "American." In fact, not even in clientele.)

The Starwoods in Europe are not typical American hotels. Especially the ones in Italy, as they took over Ciga Hotels years ago. For example their hotels in Florence are fantastic.

We've stayed at the Westin in Paris, and enjoyed that; great hotel, great location.

I like the location of the Westin and it is a good hotel. There is a nice bistro around the corner ("Flottes" I think?).

The W is more my style, but as a category 7, it will cost you more points than the Westin and I'm not sure I'd be willing to spend more.

When the Prince des Galles reopens, I would think that might become the best Starwood property. Again, a category 7.

Once stayed at the Meridien on points. I was "nice," perfectly fine and comfortable, but business ambiance. The only downside was that it was that slightly out of walking distance to anything, so you needed to take the metro to go anywhere. It's pluses included being very convenient to the train for Versailles and the airport bus stops right across the street. If you are lucky and get a room on the north side, you get a very good view of the Eiffel Tower. Perhaps the biggest plus was that there was a Monoprix two blocks away. Believe me, this is a big, big plus.

This is most snotty, arrogant and obnoxious post I've ever seen on Fodors.

The Starwood Prince de Galles reopens in May after 3 years of refurbishing. Rooms start at 800€.
