Best Rome Hotel or Apartment

I am planning to spend my 30th birthday in Rome. Does anyone have a suggestion for a fabulous hotel or apartment in the city? My husband and I would like to stay in a lively area and if possible, we would prefer to have a balcony or terrace. Thank you for any suggestions you may have.

What's your price range?

Ideally up to 300 euros a night.

For 300 Euro a night, you can get a palatial apartment with balcony or terrace. A hotel room with balcony or terrace in the historic center may be possible, depending on the season. The Albergo del Senato on the Piazza della Rotonda overlooking the Pantheon has a few rooms with balconies, but they command premium prices.

For apartments, rather than depending on random suggestions here, look at one or two of the more reputable agencies like Roman Reference and Sleep in Italy.

As I often suggest, give www.leisureinrome.com a looksee. When people come to visit me they use Leisure more often than not, and they've taken wonderful care of everyone....Also they have great selection on apartments, and are running plenty of deals at the moment. For E300 night I'm sure you can find something that fits the bill :)
