Best Rome double room <95 Euro
Can you recommend a nicely located hotel with A/C in this price range for some friends of our? Ideal location for their purposes would be near Trevi/Barberini area. Centro Storico okay, but not Vatican or Termini area. Thanks...

Suggest to them that they try www.eurocheapo.com.
Since a/c is part of the conditions, I assume that they will be traveling in high season.
If they happen to be traveling in August, their chances are better of finding what they want, since many hotels in Rome reduce their rates during August.

Hi Victoria,
I'll recommend (again) the Hotel Giardino Rome, a 2* in a great location. 5 minutes walk to the Trevi Fountain. My single room in Sept with AC was 90E a night. Double paned windows kept eveything nice and quiet for this light sleeper. Katy, the owner, is super friendly and helpful.
This might be close to their budget.
Buon viaggio!

Some budget hotels in Rome have A/C, including hostels, but most of those are near Termini. Take a look at Hotel Panda by the Spanish Steps. If they can go without the private bath, they'll make their budget target. With a private bath, they'll exceed it a bit.

Thanks for the specific recommendations...they did find a hotel with these reqts (even cheaper actually) BUT I read some pretty negative reviews of it and I wanted to be able to mention some other possibilities that people felt were nice places to stay. Thanks again...

I've stayed at Hotel Montreal in Rome (right next to St. Maria Maggiore - not sure if this is too 'termini' for you, but it's a quick walk to most places) for Euro 90 in 2004 and 2006 in July. They advertise 120 euro for a double, but they are open for haggling (as are most european non-chain hotels). They have a really clean (but basic place) with air conditioners, local TV and a breakfast. It was recommended to me by a friend, and now I recommend it to others going to rome.
