best road map for tuscany

Can you folks recommend a good road / driving map for Tuscany?

Hi MD - I always get the Italian Touring Club regional maps.

Hope this helps ...

We used the Italian Touring Club Toscana 1:200.000 scale. The Michelin 563 is 1:400.000 and only gives you the big picture. We took both, but would highly recommend just the ITC map. ((b))

Thanks folks. I see two maps by these folks on Tuscany...can you tell me which one you are referring to:

Hi MD - It's the first.

But I wouldn't buy it at $12. Wait till you get there ... Much cheaper.

Where is the best place to buy the map in Italy? Do they sell them at the Tourist Information offices?

Budman Feb 7th, 2007 05:35 AM

For $12 I would recommend getting the maps ahead of time -- gives you some time to plan your trip. ((b))

I'm leaving soon and really don't have time to go buy the map before I leave (or order off the internet without paying extra for overnight shipping). Can I buy it at the train station T.I. when I get there of do I need to hunt down a book store?

mdtravel Feb 7th, 2007 05:40 PM

Just ordered...thanks folks.

Budman Feb 7th, 2007 05:52 PM

Sorry, the first one is the one you want. The Toscana for $12.50.((b))

Hi Vino - You won't usually find them on sale at a station, I think.

Any good bookshop will sell them, though.

Where will you be? In Rome I buy mine at the bookshop in Via del Babuino.

Thanks Steve. We'll be in Florence the day before we pick up our rental car. I'll look for a bookstore there.
