Las Ramblas is a very touristy area. That means most of the food places will be touristy, too. Of course, since I usually avoid nicer restaurants I'm probably not the best person to give advice on food places.

Actually, the Boqueria food market has a lot of nice food, but it's not really what I would call a restaurant/bar/cafe. You can go in there and look around and buy a few different things to snack on or to make a nice picknick lunch.

Stay off most off the very touristy and expensive cafés/terraces/restaurants on Las Ramblas, BUT:

Several fabulous tapas bars in the Boquería market on Las Ramblas.
El Quim: http://elquimdelaboqueria.com/en/
Pinotxo:http://gastronomyblog.com/2010/05/25...txo-barcelona/
Central: http://tamarindandthyme.wordpress.co...l-la-boqueria/

Cafè del l'Òpera on La Rambla 74, just opposite the Liceu theater, is a nice place to sit down for a cup/a glass/a bite anytime: http://www.spottedbylocals.com/barce...afe-de-lopera/

Tablao Cordobés on La Rambla 35 is one of the most prestigious flamenco restaurants in Spain. Very popular with tourists, but only top artists perform here. http://www.tablaocordobes.com/index-en.html

Can Culleretes from 1786, just off Las Ramblas, is the oldest restaurant in town and serves very traditional and no fuzz Catalan food in the best atmosphere. Have had several great meals here. Still very popular with locals.

Avoid Bar Pinotxo unless you want to pay 17 euros for 3 shrimp. They are a complete rip off.

Las Caracoles and 4 Gats are two restaurants which you wished were better. Las Caracoles is the better of the two but both are just a step above average.

Be very very very very careful of pickpockets on Las Rambles.

The most brazen pickpockets in the world.

I have seen with.my own eyes.
