best restaurant in wndsor england
we will have 7 hour layover at heathrow and iwas hoping to go to windsor for a few hours.
any good restaurant suggestions from you?
|
there is a really good small pub right at the gate to Great Park that has good food and beer. Forget the name but is easy to find.

But, you might rethink your seven hours. Are you transferring on to another country (making a connection in Heathrow)? If so you will not even clear customs but will be taken to a secure transfer lounge you are not allowed to leave.

There is a nice restaurant at the bottom of Castle Hill just before the bridge to Eton, called Bel and the Dragon (good food, nice service, middling prices, and yes, that IS the correct name and spelling). There is also a restaurant called Browns which faces the river Thames - good atmosphere and view though the last meal I had there was disappointing for this chain which is normally reliable. I would suggest just wandering around Windsor and seeing what takes your fancy to be honest - it's a lovely town and there are loads of restaurants. I think Windsor is a nice choice for this layover - try and have a wander round the Castle and in the Great Park too. Don't mess around with public transport - just get a taxi to maximise your time. Shouldn't cost a fortune.

Bel and the Dragon is good! I've eaten there a couple of times. If you cross the bridge to Eaton, the first place on the left, is a good pub. Sits right on the river.
We use Windsor sometimes for an airport hotel.
Enjoy! Windsor is lovely!
