Best Restaurant Bargain in Rome
I just came back from Rome for a 2 week vacation and needed to share this with you. I stayed at The St. Regis Rome and found out prices for food everywhere where completely rocket high but this hotel has a trendy restaurant called Vivendo. The decor and service is outstanding (ask for Federico, the restaurant manager and Pierre-Paolo, the Maitre D')and for only 20 euros you can get a 2 course lunch with a glass of wine, water and cafe. For and additional 8 euros you can get a 3 course lunch instead.
Comparing the quality of food and service with the rest of the restaurants, we almost made our stay around this restaurant. |
Gee, boop.
How nice of you to take time from your busy life to use your first and only post to tell us about this wonderful place. |
Isn't it the idea of this forum?
|
I'm with Ira, I can't image a "trendy" restaurant in a hotel like the St. Regis being the "best restaurant bargain in Rome."
|
Hi boo,
You have no record of asking any questions regarding your travel planning, and you haven't bothered to send a trip report. Is there any reason why I shouldn't think that you are merely advertising this place - a major NO NO. |
It is sad that after a completely wonderful experience and trying to share it with the rest of the group, there are still people that without any kind of confirmation assume my experience is wrong. Go to Rome and see the restaurant and confirm what I said. Then, you can disagree.
|
Thanks for the info. I assume after the reaction you just got, that will be your last post as well... And if you are advertising the place, then you've proved me a mug.
|
This post smells fishy!
|
We leave for my first trip to Rome next Friday. I'll try to go by the place and check it out and report back.
|
There is really no need to go there. Just google the name.
|
But is it Safe?
|
Gosh you guys!, I didn't know there was a protocol implemented to please the audience. Listen, I just came back and share the info with you. That's right, you don't expect to have a bargain in hotels like the St. Regis but that was exactly my point.
|
Hi boo,
Since you are spending so much time on this, I'm guessing that you are being honest. So, how about a trip report? |
Hey Ira:
As I said, we just came back. I am planning to do so shortly. I got really good information about our trip from this forum and I was so excited when we came back that I wanted to share it with all. The Euro strenght and the weather was the only 2 negatives but for the rest, it was outstanding. The hotel itself is not marketing the restaurant really well; when we first arrived and saw it, we assumed it was for dinning only, but that night Federico (a formidable well trained sommelier) informed us about the lunch menus and the prices and we couldn't believe it. To be fair, the prices for dinner are as elevated as any other same caliber restaurant in Rome, but for lunch, it is well worth it to take the metro or the bus back to the hotel as we did. |
boopedo, I'm glad you enjoyed the St. Regis and Vivendo; it's one of my favorite hotels in Rome and the restaurant is, as you say, trendy and excellent. Considering Vivendo is usually a difficult reservation to get, at least at dinner, I doubt the Starwood organization has had to stoop to using shills on travel forums, yet.

If you google the Vivendi restaurant, as Ira suggested, you will find that it is #1 rated by Zagat, so there must be plenty of other people who like it too.
The only menu I saw from a quick look online was a Christmas menu with dinner prices around 100 euro, so lunch for 20 euro sounds reasonable. |
