Fodors
I'll add the Founders Arms at the southern end of Blackfriars Bridge, just upstream from the bridge foot, and the Two Chairmen at Queen Anne's Gate, justwest of St Janmes Park station. The latter has only light meals, but last month my nephew and I ate copiously on two soups and a shared cheese platter. Neither has pub background music.
Please write if I can help further.

as an ardent fan of pub dining, i highly recommend the following. they are my favorites to go and drink or eat. I prefer local places.
best food: builders arms (chelsea), the cow (notting hill)
best for a casual meal: coopers arms, anglesea arms (both chelsea)
