Best Pub
We'll be staying at Hotel Vicarage beginning March 8th - located at "Royal Borough of Kensington, yet only a stroll away from the exciting shopping in High Street Kensington, Knightsbridge"
Suggestions for best Pub and/or restaurants? We're a family of 6, looking for casual and fun, not high end or pricey Gohedwig |
Any suggestions - High Street Kensington and Knightsbridge area of London?
Thanks Gohedwig |
We didn't do many pubs in Kensington, but we ate at a couple places.
Wagamama, just past the tube station a couple blocks, is a tasty, affordable noodle bar. Their noodles are great, and the atmosphere a bit hectic :) Definitely fits casual and fun. We ate at the Thai food place near our hotel (Copthorne Tara) but I wasn't duly impressed with the food. The atmosphere was wonderful, and cozy, though. By far our best restaurant experience last trip wasn't in Kensington, but it is reachable by tube - Taz, an Anatolian/Turkish restaurant. Wonderful food!!! |
Green Dragon
Thanks for suggestions. What tube stop or section of London would I find Taz? Gohedwig |
Tas is a chain of several restaurants, mostly in South London, a good way away from your hotel. Nice enough, but you'd be going well out of your way.

If you're in the mood for Italian & are in the area of the Science Museum or the Victoria & Albert, there's a Carluccio's across from the South Kensington tube station to the west.
Pizza Express are in lots of locations & are good. |
We like the Churchill Arms (119 Kensington Church St) for London Pride beer and good reasonably-priced Thai food. It's only about a 5-minute walk away from the Vicarage, towards the Notting Hill Gate tube stop. You might need reservations for dinner.

Great suggestions - appreciate everyone's help
Any good pubs in the area? We're leaving for London March 7th Gohedwig |

for pubs, try the builders arms in kensington court place or the star tavern in belgrave mews west, belgravia.

Just returned from London last week.
Best pub: Churchill Arms on Kensington Church Street, just south of Notting Hill Gate tube stop (on the way to our B&B Hotel Vicarage) What a fun place on each of the 3 nights we visited - always crowded, diverse crowd of all ages, ESB bitters and Guinness, met people from Australia, students from Korea who are learning English in London, and locals who explained the intricacies of "bitters".
