Best priced and situated Prague hotels?
Hi all-
We have never been there, in our 30s and looking to go in the fall. Looking for something in $100 range or possibly $150. Good location, charm, clean, if possible, too. Thoughts?
Thanks.
Andrea - Just booked Pension Dientzenhofer for this June. Found it at www.eurocheapo.com. Sounds like it may fit your qualifications. Did see some good reviews on this forum.
Regards - Tom

Andrea -
I used travelcook.com and stayed at the the Hotel Constans in the Mala Strana district - about halfway between the castle and Charles Bridge. I stayed 7 nights ($125 a night) - got one night free and had a free car service from the airport. My only quibble about the Hotel Constans is that I didn't have much of a view - great room though and the staff was very eager to please.

http://www.travelcook.com/English/

If you're looking for something a bit closer to the bridge and the Vltava, consider the Hotel Certovka, which should be reopened by now:

http://www.certovka.cz/en_certovka.htm

Prague in the fall is great - the hills are decked out in autumanl colors - I was there at the end of October 2002.

Hotel Betlem Club or Pension Dientzenhofer? Trying to narrow down one of these choices so I can book one. Thanks to all for help!
wow! $100 to $150 is your range? it's been a few years since i visited prague but when i stayed there, i paid $18 canadian a night for a private room (about600 sq.ft.) in a very centrally located, 400 year old building that had incredible character.

My wife and I stayed at the Pension Dientzenhofer in'97, then just under $100/night. It was a great find - large attractive room with a view toward the river and great hosts/owners. I'd like to hear if it's still as nice.

Joe - Dientzenhofer is now 3950 Kc/night for a double - $125

Gigi,
I am with you. My price range is something in the USD $30-40 range, very clean, very centrally located and historic (and so far I have always managed to find it in Paris, London, Rome, etc.) Where did you stay? I need a recommendation for Prague as I am going there in 3 weeks and are searching for accomodations cheap, central and with a character. thanks. |
I had a reservation at Cloister Inn that I booked with them and then looked around this site that I found on this talk forum and got it for $50/night cheaper! I then checked back with hotel and they just said they have a contract and can offer less than we can for rooms. TKS!

Prague hotels aren't as cheap as you'd expect given food and other things are very cheap. AVE travel is a good resource, also see www.marys.cz for lists of pensions.
Pension Unitas is a pension/hotel place, the sister of Cloister Inn but cheaper. They do also have singles, as well as group rooms, and they are about US$30-35, I guess. http://unitas.prague-hostels.cz/ If you can get Cloister Inn for that price, all the better. There are lots of Prague booking sites you'd have to review a lot fo discounts. It would be nice if Don gave the source for his good deal on Cloister Inn (although seasonality can play a big part of the rate structure and possible discounts, definitely). |
We stayed at Penzion Balbin near the Muzeum Metro and Wenceslas Square. We paid $35 in Nov. '97, know it was $85 during high season a couple of years ago. It is 5-10 minute walk to just about anywhere you want to go. Located on top floors of apartment building with locked door to street so safe. Good buffet breakfast, nice clean rooms with shower/toilet in room and skylights.

I copied the last line of my post again for Christina....

Stayed at the Bikumpsky Dum (The Bishop's House). Great location just over the Charles Bridge castle side.
I booked with marys.cz. The people were so helpful and wonderful. Arranged for pick-up at the train station and had a welcome package welcoming us in the car. Hotels were not cheap in Prague, but everything else was. We got last minute tickets to the ballet from the same travel agent when we got there. 5 rows back for $30/each. |
