Best place to stay on Mediterranean coast?

Hi,

My girlfriend and I are in the beginning stages of planning a 14 day trip to Turkey in early October. Here is our itinerary so far:

- 3 nights in Istanbul
(fly to Kayseri)
- 3 nights in Cappadocia
(rent car and drive to Antalya)
- 2 nights in Antalya (too long??)
(drive)
- 3 nights in either Kalkan, Kas, Cirali, or Olimpos (maybe a combination thereof?)
(drive)
- 2 nights in Bodrum (possible day-trip to Rhodes)
(fly from Bodrum to IST back to USA)

We need some help deciding where the best places to stay on the coast would be. We are both 27 years old; we like a little bit of nightlife (restaurants, mellow bars), but nothing crazy. We DEFINITELY prefer "local flavor" to extremely touristy areas, and we'd also like to spend quite a bit of time on the beach (or maybe even on a boat cruise).

Help please!!!

Thanks!

Alex

I enjoyed Kalkan. If you can, splurge for a higher-end hpotel there. I stayed in a budget place that was ok, but I found in general that if you can spend up to $150 US per night in Turkey you can stay in extremely nice accomodations.

I really enjoyed Bodrum. There is a crazy element t it, but not so much so that it's not worth it.Bodrum would me considered extremely touristy, Kalkan would fit your mellow criteria.

How about Ephesus? You might be able to do it as a day trip from Bodrum if you added a night there.

Just a thought.....

October is high season in some places and close to off season other.
Your breakdown is quite fine. What are your plans in Antalya ? Do not cut a day from Kalkan if you choose so. But add a day off the Antalya to Olympos at least. As AP6380 suggest 150 Usd. generally speaking will give you some luxurious sleeping to enjoy life;-)
Help might arrive if you mention the price bracket....
Happy Travelling,
Murat

Yeah, we thought about Ephesus, but were concerned that we'll run out of time. How long would it take to drive up there from Bodrum? Thanks.

Have fun
