Best place to stay in Galway
Hello!
Looking for advice on the best place to stay in County Galway in Ireland when we go there in June. Looking to spend one full day in a town or village rich with Ireland scenery (mountains, landscapes, castles to visit, places to shop and pubs to unwind) Somewhere within two hours from Dublin.
Thank you me lads and lassies!

Portuma is in East, County Galway at the head of Lough Derg between the Slieve Aughty and Slieve Bloom. Loughrea (Grey Lake) is another non tourist option both being 12 miles from the best place in Galway. Our House.
Galway and Salthill being Central. Kinvara on Galway Bay and Oranmore would be south. Oughterard the gateway to Connemara slightly past Moycullen and Spiddal to the west.

Sorry for the confusion! I meant "place" to stay as in town or village area. I will worry about the hotel once we decide where to go!
We have been advised to go to Galway, so I am just trying to pin point where we can get the best value for our time and experience. Thats all
Thank you for your help

We are spending the majority of our time in Dublin. We have a rental car and want to see the Cliffs of Moher. I dont want to spend all that time driving back and forth to Dublin jsut to see the cliffs, so thats why I am looking for a great place to stay for the night and head back to Dublin the next day.
On our route to the cliffs, will we be driving through any slieves or castles? If we are able to drive through scenic areas on our way to our destination (being the Cliffs) then I wont worry so much about staying somewhere to see that stuff.

Kinvara Might be my best Suggestion to fit your plan..But if you consider the straight line from Dublin to the Cliffs is intersected by Lough Derg (and our cottage) you could consider over the Lough on the way too and under the Lough on the way back breaking the Journey with a night in Ennis http://goo.gl/maps/aru55 if you could slip in another night then returning with Kilkenny as night 2 would work. http://goo.gl/maps/bvtZE
