Best place to stay in Chipping Campden?
So many people have said Chipping Campden is a great, centrally located place to stay in the Cotswolds. What are your recommendations? Anything in town? For less than 100 pounds a night?
Thanks |
Well, Bramley House is really wonderful. David and Jane are the kindest, nicest hosts you could ever meet, and the rooms are beautiful (only two of them, though there may be a third by now.) Read the reviews on TripAdvisor as well. You won't be disappointed.

Costwold House was very nice but pricy. However we got a great deal for the place through luxurylink.com for $700 for 4 nights (including breakfast, tea one day and dinner another day and other things). I noticed they have a few packages on luxurylink so if you are able to get it in your price range, I would do it. However before you bid, contact Ian at the hotel to make sure your dates are available under the luxurylink package. He was very flexible with us. Lyndon Arms was also recommended. We liked the village and found it near a lot of things.

IMO, Chipping Campden is the ideal base to explore the Cotswolds.
We stayed at the Lygon Arms and liked it a lot. Even the cheap rooms are nice, the more expensive courtyard rooms are a dream. The Lygon Arms houses a pub, a more formal restaurant in a historic room and offers al fresco dining in the courtyard. The steak and ale pie is to die for. Excellent wine list and surprisingly inexpensive. www.lygonarms.co.uk And lots of other options in easy walking distance. Chipping Campden is a very walkable town. We loved our after-dinner walks there. |
If you are interested in the Lygon Arms - be sure to note there is another Lygon Arms in nearby Broadway -- Not the same animal at all.
My two recommended bases for first timers touring the Cotswolds would be Chipping Campden or Burford. I personally like the "vibe" in Burford a bit more - good shopping and choices of pubs/restaurants. But Chipping Campden is a very nice village and large enough to have everything you need. |
Thanks everyone!
