Best place to get Maps for Rome, Florence, Venice?

I thought I recall that American Express gives out free maps in these cities, anyone know? Should I just buy the little plastic pop up ones here before I leave tomorrow?
I've been to these cities before and didn't really need the maps, just got my bearings by the monuments anyway.

I would just get them from a Barnes & Noble or other bookstore.

At Barnes & Nobles we bought the Freytag & Brendt maps. Best we have ever seen. The Venice maps has the vaporetto routes & #'s. $10 each. We liked having them pre-trip so we could plan. The free ones given out were not very thorough, we didn't think.

In each of the cities, your hotel will you provide with free maps.

For planning, you can use www.viamichelin.com or the cities' websites.

And every guidebook contains maps.
