Best place for Tea in London?
 

Can anyone recommend the best place for tea at the lowest price in London? I know the Ritz and Browns hotels come highly recommended, however, I don't want to spend that much. Last time, I went to Harrods. The price was 17.50 per person, which was reasonable and the setting was great. I'm looking for a new place this time.

We very much enjoyed the St. James Restaurant at the top of Fornum & Masons. But I, too, am looking for another option for our upcoming trip.

How much is it?

I don't know the cost now, but in 1999 I had tea at the Orangery at Kensington Palace and it was reasonable with a great atmosphere.

Hi Jamila<BR>I brought to the top of today's list (it's already slipped down a bit) Londoner Ben Haines's recommendations for "Good ordinary tea in London."<BR>These are not the most touristed places like the Ritz Hotel or Brown's Hotel, and not as grand either, and also not as expensive.<BR>Mr Haines has also in the past recommended afternoon tea at the Charing Cross Thistle hotel.<BR>I can tell you that afternoon tea at cafes like The Fountain in Fortnum and Mason's, one of the many cafes in Harrods, and chains like Richoux can be quite good, if not very ceremonial.<BR>At least you don't have to change your clothes.
