Best Nightlife in Paris

My wife and I will be visiting Paris in September and will be staying in a flat in the 6th. We are in our late 40's and ould like to go out at night to have some fun, ie., dancing, music, plays, etc.

Looking for some good nightlife ideas if we aren't too exhasusted after a full day of walking and sightseeing. Any musts? What days of week, etc.

Thank you in advance.

Hi MM,

We very much enjoyed a night out after dinner at Le Petit Zinc. A few doors North on Rue Benoit is Le Jazz Club, where Swing style jazz is the order of the day. Marcelle Zanini (clarinet and vocal) and Ahmed Gülbay (piano) gave us an enjoyable presentation of old and not so old standards and a few original pieces - very enjoyable. 6E cover charge + 1 drink 28E.

It still being early (there were people on the streets), we walked up the street to Le Bilboquet for something entirely different. Hidegarde Wanzlawe, accompanied by a jazz combo, gave a lively performance of American and French songs. Her Eastern European accent (in both English and French) added a delightful layer to her scat singing.

Bobby Edwards, a local fellow with a great talent on the bass sax, sat in for a set of "Cherokee". The whole group swang and the crowd went wild. No cover charge. 36 E for one drink each.

Hope this helps.

Ira, thanks, I was looking for a good jazzy club too. Is there a minimum drink rule, I guess one was enough? What did you drink for 28 an 36euro? Hope it was a big glass! Any other suggestions on clubs like these?

Yikes, 28 to 36 euros for a drink. I sure hope the drink was fantastic, LOL.
Save you pennies SeaUrchin..you will need them for the clubs, lol.

Yes, I will. I think the drink price about right with the cover charge being so low. One drink is enough!

Thanks for the info Ira. Wow, those drink prices are sky high. Don't think I'd be up for paying that much. Anything more reasonable?

Looks like scat is getting more and more expensive all the time.

Hi guys,

I should have made it more clear, the prices were for two people.

Ira, thanks for the clarification, but the drink prices are still quite high, approx $20 per drink. What do you think a good old beer might cost at one of these clubs? Anyone know of any less expensive alternatives?

Thanks to all!

Hi Ira, that price for two people is not bad..I thought you meant per person. That is a reasonable sum for an evening's entertainment, especially in Paris!
