Best/Most Scenic Route to Annecy, France from Amsterdam

Hello, I will be traveling in Europe for all of July. I was wondering if anyone had suggestions on best ways to get from Amsterdam to Annecy, France for Bastille Day. Should we take a train from Amsterdam to Annecy by way of Paris or should we take the train from Amsterdam to Geneva then bus it to Annecy? Any suggestions/tips would be appreciated! Thank you.

You may travel via Cologne and take a slow train along the Rhine river to Mainz (or, better: a Rhine river boat from Koblenz to Bingen). Go then to Strasbourg (visit) - Colmar (visit) - Basel - Lucerne - Golden Pass - Montreux - Martigny - Chamonix - St. Gervais - Annecy (all by train).
