Best Month for Turkey & Greece

I am planning a trip to Turkey and the Greek Islands in 2007. Is September a good month to go? I want warm weather on the Greek Islands in particular. I could go in August but hear that is a crowded tourist month. What do you think is better? If I shorten my trip to two weeks verses three weeks I could go in July. Recommendations would be appreciated.

Early September would be a nice time to go. Warm weather and a bit less crowded.

Hi Lucretia - I think the ideal months for Greece and Turkey are June or September.

Hope this helps ...

The best month... depends on what you want to do. If you are the 9 to 5 archeological site fanatic, you should definitely avoid the hot summer months. If you are a beach bum, then choose August.
If you are both, I would not choose June but September.

Jul & Aug are best in the Greek Islands if you like crowded beaches and prefer to wait for a free table in restaurants and tavernas (make sure your hotel has aircon - some don't). Jun or Sep are best if you enjoy warm, but not hot, weather, and like a pleasant buzz of activity without crowds.

Hi

I have just returned from Turkey and Greece. I arrived in Istanbul on 30 August. Temperature was mild low to mid 20s (centigrade). It did get warmer as we went east. Then arrived on Paros on 15/9. Beautiful weather - around 28C. Go in September and stay for 3 not 2 weeks!

Hi all, I am new to this forum but I have to also agree that June and Sept are the best months. What areas of Turkey do you plan to travel to? Are you looking for the regular tourist sites or more off the beaten path away from the crowds? Turkey is such a big country and full of many interesting and historical places like Istanbul, Cappadocia, Cirali, Kaya Koyu, etc that you can certainly fill up 3 weeks or more. Good luck
