Best Modernista sites - Barcelona
I am planning a short stay in Barcelona. Just basically two days. (I am not counting the day of arrival as I know I will be brain dead after the flight so I am just going to walk around and explore, no major sites!)
I have been before but it was for a cruise and we didn't tour any of the Modernista houses or the park. We did do Sagrada Familia and I will be returning! I LOVED IT! I felt like it was one of the best cathedrals ever (and I have seen a lot of the biggies in Europe )
But timing, and funds, are limited. The sites are costly and I think trying to shove them all in would create "overload" where things blur together.
So I am assuming that it's basically half a day in Sagrada Familia (it took me a few hours last time and I didn't do a tower which I am going to try and brave this time. I don't like heights, but..... ) .
So if you had to pick two other "top choices" which would you take?
Thanks!

I loved La Pedrera with the sinister figural chimneys - you can actually go up on the roof there. And I would try to go inside Casa Batlo if I went back as we just walked by last time. So you should probably pick one of those two, and combine it with Parc Guell.

I would see La Pedrera and Casa Batllo. A third choice would be Palau Guell.
For the first two houses get tickets on line so you don't have to spend time waiting to buy tickets at the venue. Tickets for La Pedrera are timed; for Casa Batllo the ticket is good any time that day.
You have time to do 4 things in Barcelona without overload. Consider the Catalan Museum which I thought was wonderful and which would break up the Modernista architecture.
BTW - Sagrada Familia is not a cathedral. It is a basilica.

I would choose either La Pedrera or Casta Batllo, and then the Guell house down off the Ramblas, I guess that is Palau Guell. It's very convenient to combine with other things, for one thing, due to its location. And it's a lot cheaper than Casa Batllo (only 12 euro vs. 21).

The great music hall, Palau de la Musica Catalana, by the architect Lluís Domènech i Montaner, is a stunning example of Catalan Art Nouveau. It is listed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. If you cannot attend a performance, there are tours available.
