Best location in Lugano for views/convenience
 

Based on comments in response to my earlier posting, I think we'll try to base ourselves in Lugano for a week before moving south to Italy for the rest of the trip. This would be an early summer (June/July) trip. We'd like a rental with 2 bedrooms, A/C throughout and preferably 2 baths with shower (though I know that isn't easy to get) for something in the neighborhood of 1100 SFr or less per week. We won't have a car, so we'd like to be able to walk to restaurants/town and the lake. When I've searched the Lugano tourism site, it hasn't been entirely clear which places, if any, fill this bill. Any personal recommendations?

Topping because I too am heading to that area in late May. I am still trying to decide between staying in Locarno or Lugano.

Anyone out there?

For views, you can't beat the slope of Monte Bre (where we stayed) - gorgeous!

I very much doubt that you'll find a place with A/C and/or 2 baths...

VRBO had some rentals in the Locarno area not Lugano --mostly 2 bedrooms/2 bath, probably no AC. The Lugano website had a huge villa complex with all the requirements we listed except it was also very luxurious (which we don't need) and cost a mint. It is also hard to tell where these places are relative to town and the lake. I was hoping someone might have rented a place that fit the bill. If not, I'll keep scouting around Slowtrav, et al.
