Best location ?
 

I'm undecided on where to stay... I found a nice botique hotel (As Janelas Verdes) in Lapa area (near embassy's and water) but I can't tell how far it is from sites. Could I easily take metro or walk?
Another option looks to be in the heart of it all (Aviz Hotel) but could be noisy.
I'm also planning to stay one night at Sao Filipe Pousada and if I can, 1 night in Sintra - is that necessary? Can I just taxi/metro into Sintra for a day to see sights?
We prefer cafes to nightclubs and quaint shopping to mega malls. Love Historical sites vs. art museums.

You'll get more results if you give your city you're visiting. I'm sort of assuming you're going to be in Portugal but I'm not really sure.

Yes, so sorry. I entered Portugal as the subject in my initial post but it didn't show up in the message. I'll be in Lisbon last week of September.

The point is... not that you made a &quot;mistake&quot; (Fodors doesn't do much to inform you that choosing <i>Portugal</i> as a <i>category</i> won't show up, in anyway, in your message header).

The point is that it can't be fixed now... and the only polite remedy is that you <i><u>should</u></i> <b>re-post</b>.
