Best little hotel in the Latin Quarter in Paris!

The Hotel Monge on the Rue Monge in the Latin Quarter is a fabulous, inexpensive place to stay while in Paris! It sits in between two major metro stops in a neighborhood just down the street from Notre Dame and across the street from a fetching little tabac. There are small grocery stores in the area and the hotel has a Roman amphitheater for a back yard! All in all it is a truly fine little place to stay.

Hi Barbara

I have stayed at the Hotel des Arenes also on Rue Monge. I am curious what made you choose The Hotel Monge? Was it the rate or the reviews? I thought I got a great rate also when I stayed at the Hotel des Arenes. Anyway just curious.

I was glad to see your post. We have a reservation at the Hotel Monge in June. We had tried to get a reservation at another hotel recommended by the Rick Steves book, des grande ecoles, but it was booked and they recommended the Monge (and Arenes BTW). Always happy to see a personal recommendation. Is there any other information you can share?

Do these hotels have airconditioning? Rooms for 3?

Hello, they do have triple rooms at a reasonable rate--about 90 to 100 euros I think. I tried and tried to book a triple from them for my March trip but could never get through on the telephone and the email address I had did not work. I think I remember that they have A/C but I am not sure. I would like to try to book them for first of July if Barbara or someone would send me a recent phone and email address I would appreciate it.

Please stop telling people about the Hotel Monge!! Otherwise, it will book up too quickly and I won't be able to get a room.

Seriously, it is a great find. The rooms offer remote-control AC. We had a view of the Arenes from our room.

I considered the Hotel des Arenes for our latest trip as well. It's just a few doors down the street and also has rooms that look out on the Arenes. The Hotel des Arenes is three stars, however, whereas Hotel Monge is two stars. The price differential was not great--104 Euros for Arenes vs. 84 for Monge, but we were on a budget. So we chose the Hotel Monge and it turned out to be a terrific choice.
