Best Italian Opera House?
Looking to go to a fantastic opera while in Italy late June-early July. Any recommendations other than Milan, Naples or Venice (aren't going to these cities). Thanks.
How about in Verona - under the stars in the 2000 year old Arena.
Spectacular!

Another vote for the Arena di Verona (Aida, Carmen, Nabucco this year).

The site/programme for this summer is now online.
www.verona.com

Oh, I left these out:
Rigoletto, Turandot and only one performance of La Traviata (July 31).

Definitely Verona, if you are there during the opera festival. Since i don't know where you'll be, I can't be more specific, but the poster who recommended checking an internet arts calendar service is right. Look out for Macerata (near Ancona on the Adriatic coast - also outdoors); the Rossini festival in Pesaro; Parma; Bussetto; Lucca; Palermo; Rome....
