Best hotel in Dubrovnik?
Hello I am trying to decide where to stay in Dubrovnik - what are your favorite hotels in Dubrovnik? Not apartments, 4 and 5* hotels.
I am comparing currently Hotel Argentina with Hilton IMperial - but Argentina they do not have seaview left for my dates - I think seaview in Dubrovnik is a must?
Pucic Palace is way too expensive which I thought is overpriced.
Villa Dubrovnik is being renovated..
Any other ideas? That's for October - still prices are not going down ...
thanks

We stayed last year at the 3-star Stari Grad and really loved it. The location is unbeatable if you want to be within the city walls -- right off the Stradun up a little alley a few steps. There's a small but charming lobby and a staircase up to the rooms (no elevator) -- I think there are 2 or 3 rooms on each floor. Our room was lovely, bigger than most we've stayed in in Europe, and nicely decorated. Great bathroom and other amenities. Sweet views over the rooftops of Croatia. The highlight, though, is the rooftop terrace. It seemed to me that the Stari Grad's terrace is the only rooftop terrace within the walls. You can sit there at night and take it all in (awesome!), and a great breakfast is served there in the morning. The staff were wonderful.

Even if your room at the Argentina does not have a seaview room, the dining terrace where you will take your breakfast, as well as you can sit out there anytime( the terrace is massive) should even be enough.
I can attest to the Argentina being absolutely superb!
I would however, book a room in the villa portions of the hotel, not the hotel itself. You can choose from the Villa Argentina ( we stayed here in a massive room with balcony, Villa Glavic ( across the street, very nice) Villa Orsula ( the most lux of all.
The walk to the Old Town is only about 8 minutes. I visited alot of the other hotels and we were so glad we stayed at the Villa Argentina.
At the Hilton you can be anywhere, the Villa Dubrovnik is a further walk from town, yes, you are right about the Pucic. I visited it and frankly, I would not stay there.
The Stari Grad is indeed a nice place and inside the walls. But we preferred to have a long range view of the city walls rather than being inside the walls. THAT view is spectacular.
You will like Dubrovnik, lovely place and lots of fun!

I agree with Tripgirl, the Hilton is nothing special, we stayed for 8 nights, but I wouldnt stay there again, we noticed the Stari Grad, and it looked really lovely, I havent stayed there, but I can appreciate what aprillilacs says about it, its in a really nice location.
