Best guidebook for Croatia?

Does anyone have or could recommend a really good Croatia guidebook? We've done all of our planning online (can't beat the real life experiences of fellow fodorites!), but I'm wondering if we should bring a guidebook with is so we know what we're looking at when we get there. Especially with all the great history of Korcula and Dubrovnik.

Is anyone bringing a guidebook with them on their vacation to Croatia?

Thanks!

Footprint just released their 3rd edition for Croatia - of all the Croatia guidebooks i have - I like their's best. Nelles - second. DK Eyewitness - third. For beautiful illo - Knopf. Rough Guide and Lonely Planet are very straightforward - and the information is standard,

We had the DK Eyewitness and found it didnt give us what we needed. Especially for accomodation and restaurants. The Rough Guide was great for Greece and we should have stuck with it I think.

Hi
I used both DK Eyewitness and Footprint. Found Footprint to be much better for information and a better guidebook.

I, and apparently every tourist that I encountered were identified by our 'Lonely Planet' tomes.

I was really funny to see how many we were, all clucthing our copies !

Try Bradt City Guides. They're very detailed and well researched. Any reputable bookstore should have them. We used ours extensively on our trip to Dubrovnik. We also found the Lonely Planet Western Balkans book very helpful.

Dubrovnik is truly a slice of heaven on earth!

Hi, I thought I bought every travel book they have on Croatia for my trip in August. However, some of you mentioned Footprints guidebook as being your favorite. I just saw that I could purchase it from Barnes & Noble. They have the 2004 Edition which must be the 2nd Edition if Carta Pisana said she just purchased the 3rd edition. Carta..where did you buy yours. I don't know where you are from...I'm in the USA and would like to purchase the newest one. I also like Rick Steve's Best of Eastern Europe because we are also going to Slovenia and Bosnia.

I ordered it on Amzaon - I should be receiving it in the middle of July. (I received an email saying it was shipping only to be told the next day I had to wait) I checked a few of the B&Ns here in NYC but to no avail.

check Visible Cities Dubrovnik guide. I have their Budapest guide which has lots of great info and is nicely designed.

Yea, I just received my copy of the Footprint Croatia 3rd Edition and I really love it! Thanks everyone for your recommendation.

I noticed no one has recommended the new Fodors Croatia and Slovenia guide (complete with the 50 pages or less on Slovenia) Not the best guide Fodor's has published.

I just ordered my copy of the new Footprint guide yesterday...can't wait to get it! Based on the recommendations here, I could not pass the book up! I'll be in Croatia in September...anxiously waiting the books arrival!

I have been planing my trip to Croatia for a few months now. Can't remember where, but Bradt's Croatia was highly recommended and has been helpful. I also like Rough Guide Croatia. Don't know how accurate they are since my trip is not until October. What do you all like about Footprint? I have never heard of that series.

LCI - got mine yesterday. Already noticed a few deletions and a few new additions. (Now I just have to get through the next month and a half of work.)
