Try Roughguides or Lonely Planet. It's a compact area if you ignore the awful resorts to the east of Llandudno, which is OK itself. To the west and on to Anglesey is OK ish too. Snowdonia is lovely.

It's a bit unconventional but if you have specific questions about things to see and do (and eat), head over to /r/Wales ( https://www.reddit.com/r/Wales/ ) and ask there.

Sorry I can't recommend a guide book, the last one I used was the excellent, but 40+ year old Exploring Wales by William Condry, which had all sorts of hidden delights in it.

Don't ignore the eastern area of North Wales, away from the coast. The Denbigh moors are lovely, plenty to see and do around Llangollen, and some lovely small villages to visit too.

Do spend some time on Angelsey, and on the Llyn peninsula.
If the weather is grim on the mainland it is often good on Anglesey.

I'll second Lonely Planet. We used their Wales guide in 2014 and found it to be very helpful.
