There is another gelateria opposite the Trevi Fountain-does anyone know its name?

It's across the street from a leather store selling wallets, purses, belts, etc.

A gelateria across from the Trevi Fountain, although not directly across but a few door down toward the Corso, is Blue Ice. There is or was a gelateria on the corner directly across from the fountain and the church of San Vincenzo but I don't know the name of it.

Giolitti was wonderful, though I never tried the others. My husband and I ate there every night we were there, and there were always a lot of people there. Like others, compared to other places in Italy, this was far superior.

Why don't you try each of the places recommended and give us a report?

Grinisa, you are the best! And, who wants to rave about a gelato joint called "Blue Ice?" Just goes to show you the importance of a good business name, even in Rome. Blue Ice always seemed a little too Times Square. The snob in me refused to even give it a chance, especially when San Crispino is such a short walk away.

Thanks NYCFS, although I don't think knowing names of gelaterie in Rome is all that praiseworthy! Just shows I spend too much time seeking out calorie laden snacks. My husband is a San Crispino devotee although I prefer Da Quinto and Monteforte.

I, too, adore my sweets and I love gelato hopping. Am I too old to say I remember when Tre Scalini ruled the day? I don't have a favorite gelato place. There's just too many good ones to give up on any.

I didn't know that Rome was known for good ghetos.
