Best driving route from Killarney to Doolin or Killareny to Galway

What is the best route to take when driving from Killarney to Doolin or Killarney to Galway? Would we take the ferry at all? Is that quicker/cheaper? Is it a lot shorter to take the ferry? And one last thing, do people feel there is more to see and do in Doolin or Galway? Trying to finalize our last leg of our trip and can't decide between Doolin or Galway for a night or two before heading back to Dublin. Any recommendations would be helpful!

Thanks!

The usual run is between the two tourist spots of Dingle and Doolin as part of the 3DK run.. You can either take the ferry route if you aim to see some of south west Clare or for Clare above Ennistymon and Galway the Tunnel tends to be the quicker cheaper (not shorter) option.

My views of Doolin as a decent place to visit rather than overnight are well known and if you are pressed to chose between Doolin and Galway then Kinvara would be a good option just about half way between the two.
